From November 14, 2025, to February 15, 2026, to mark the 550th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), the historic halls of Palazzo Fava will host the exhibition Michelangelo and Bologna, a major project promoted by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna as part of the Genus Bononiae cultural project and produced by Opera Laboratori. Curated by Cristina Acidini, President of the Fondazione Casa Buonarroti and the Academy of Drawing Arts, and Alessandro Cecchi, Director of the Fondazione Casa Buonarroti, the exhibition offers an original journey that explores the connection between Michelangelo Buonarroti and the city of Bologna, with particular attention to his stays in Bologna and the artistic and cultural context in which he developed during his youth. The narrative unfolds through a combination of original works, historical casts, drawings, early books, and archival documents, offering a broad yet analytical look at the evolution of Michelangelo’s genius.
