Sustainability
in Opera Laboratori

In 2023, Opera Laboratori chose to embark on a new path for growth oriented towards sustainability in an effort to identify and enhance all the aspects that characterise its way of operating and its constant commitment to creating value in the short, medium and long term. Over the years, the activity has expanded throughout Italy, generating a positive impact and spreading best practices thanks to our identity-related values such as sharing beauty, passing on traditional know-how, spreading a new ethos of hospitality, creating itineraries aimed at discovering regions while respecting the places and people who live there. Opera Laboratori voluntarily publishes its second edition in 2024, with the intention of continuing and consolidating a way of creating value oriented increasingly towards ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues.

Culture and sustainable development goals (SDGS)

Culture is central to the sustainable development process: today more than ever before, museums and cultural organisations are called on, like production companies, to rethink their sustainability model, acting to build and consolidate substantial relationships with stakeholders and to communicate externally the cultural, social and economic value generated by their activities on society. Although there is no specific objective addressed to the world of art and culture in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the objectives’ transversal dimension acts on different areas, and it will therefore continue to be increasingly important to consider them as a lever. Art and culture are in fact driving forces for – economic and social – innovation and call on everyone to respect the environment and human rights, helping the community to face both current and future challenges. In this regard, in the 2019 publication “Culture 2030 Indicators”, UNESCO identified 22 thematic indicators to identify the direct link between the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the contribution of culture to sustainable development in the areas of Environment and Resilience, Economy and Prosperity, Knowledge and Skills, Inclusion and Participation. Opera Laboratori, with its activities and projects, contributes to the following Goals.

Through territorial marketing and food & beverage activities, Opera Laboratori acts by supporting sustainable food production, aimed at protecting the ecosystem and promoting local production.

The company’s focus on decent work and economic growth is intrinsic to its approach, which has always been oriented towards supporting the territories in which it operates and the people who live there, whose wealth increases thanks to tourism and culture. Added to this is the attention to the people, suppliers and collaborators that Opera Laboratori uses and who are at the heart of the company’s policies.

The production of exhibitions and events can be a catalyst for the promotion of social, economic and political inclusion of any age, gender, disability, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic status or any other status.
